In removing all the clear plastic stickers from my new Datejust (purchased yesterday), I got to the green plastic sticker on the caseback with the word "ROLEX" over and over again in sort of a hologram with a number in large black digits written across it. I purchased a used P serial bluesy several years ago with a green sticker on the case back. I can't seem to bring myself to get rid of it. Anyone else kept theirs, or is the general consensus to take it off?When did Rolex stop with the green holographic case back sticker? Rolex used the green holographic sticker for decades but stopped with them in late 2007. Now, the green holographic Rolex caseback stickers were replaced by a transparent stickers.
You have a plastic sticker contacting your skin, the edges will get all frayed and nasty, with your body oils melding with it.plus, to me it's flat out ugly. The case back is stainless steel with a nice brushed finish meant to contact your wrist. As seen when looked at closely (I did my best to show it in the picture), the green "hologram" sticker is still fastened to the case back of my 16622 Yachtmaster with the plastic protector still stuck on top. I had a DJ years ago and left the green sticker on until the watch was eventually serviced at which time, as I recall, it was removed by Dallas RSC. If nothing else the sticker will keep off scratches on the brushed surface of the caseback and helps provide authenticity if the watch is ever sold. Admittably, however, if my sticker was green like a 5 digit rolex caseback ones, would have taken them off immediately. And no, i do not intend to buy additional coating, like them tesla owners and ceramic coating, once the stickers are off. See more.
It doesn't do any harm to leave it on, but it will deteriorate. If you're into keeping the accessories, and I mean all of them, then the common solution is to carefully peel it off and stick it to some plastic or wax paper and save it with the rest of the toys.
