I would not use the chrono function on a constant basis unless needed. The subdial on the left serves as your second hand so I would leave the chrono hand at 12 unless you are timing something. I only run mine about once a month or so to 'keep things moving' so to speak. Many quartz (i.e. battery powered) watches tick once per second, also there are "auto quartz" hybrid movements (Fortis Spacematic comes to mind) that appear to run like a regular auto.
